What do you stand for?

One of my students told me this quote, “If you don't stand for something you will fall for anything.” I concur with this statement. I always love how God aligns my classes for lessons I need to learn. I was teaching a class on Corporate Social Responsibility and learned that a corporation's social responsibility comes down to one thing, what are the values it stands for. Moreover, I believe this is true of every individual.

Core Values

One of my first questions in all my classes to my learners is, "What are your values? For it is your values that are your moral compass, and it is these values that help you ensure you are standing for what you believe."

I have discovered there really is not much I can control in my life, but I can stand for the values I believe in. My core value is my faith, and it is my faith that I stand for, and use daily as my moral compass to ensure I am always doing my best to talk and walk my values.

Much will come to us in life, for the Bible says we will endure trials and tribulations, but if we hold fast to God's teachings and stand for what our values are, we will overcome. For Christ is the same yesterday, today, and tomorrow. His values and teaching have endured yesterday, today, and will tomorrow too.

The fear of the LORD is pure, enduring forever. The decrees of the LORD are firm, and all of them are righteous. Psalm 19:9 (NIV)

For you have been born again, not of perishable seed, but of imperishable, through the living and enduring word of God. 1 Peter 1:23 (NIV)

Thank you Heavenly Father for always reminding me that it is standing for Your values that will help me endure all that can and will come against me. Amen.
